अङ्गं हरेः पुलकभूषणमाश्रयन्ती भृङ्गाङ्गनेव मुकुलाभरणं तमालम्। अङ्गीकृताखिलविभूतिरपाङ्गलीला माङ्गल्यदास्तु मम मङ्गलदेवतायाः॥
मुग्धा मुहुर्विदधती वदने मुरारेः प्रेमत्रपाप्रणिहितानि गतागतानि। माला दृशोर्मधुकरीव महोत्पले या सा मे श्रियं दिशतु सागरसम्भवायाः॥

आदि शङ्कराचार्यः
Adi Shankaracharya was a philosopher and teacher who systematised Advaita Vedanta, the non-dual understanding that the individual self and the ultimate reality are one. Traditionally said to have lived only thirty-two years, he travelled the length of India in debate and teaching, and is credited with establishing monastic centres in the four directions.
Alongside his commentaries on the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and Brahma Sutras, a large body of devotional hymns (stotras) is attributed to him — works of striking beauty that hold philosophical depth and heartfelt devotion together.
